White Elephants Thundering Around Your Closets?
Herd Them Our Way…

Once again, we will have a White Elephant table at the community yard sale on Saturday, October 4, 2008 in the North Fairlington Community Center parking lot. You can bring your items to us between 7:30 – 10:30 am and will find us at the parking lot entrance, near the community center building.

We’ll make sure your treasures find a new home and will appreciate your support for historic preservation in Fairlington.

Third Annual Fairlington Homecoming
Friday, October 17, 2008
7:00 pm at the North Fairlington Community Center
Featuring the ‘Fairlington’s Tennis Players’ Reunion

Current and former residents… anyone who has ever called Fairlington ‘home’… is invited to attend.

This year’s program will feature a special reunion of Fairlington’s community of tennis players, buffs, and supporters. Since the condominium conversion (1972–78), Fairlington has been a uniquely appealing place for tennis lovers, with its many courts and active athletic and social life.

Stop by for an evening of tennis stories with neighbors old and new and plenty of wine and cheese.  Peggy Bultman and Nat Pitts will help host the event. We expect a good crowd of players and fans and plenty of reminiscing.

If you have pictures or other items to contribute to the event or are interested in helping record and transcribe the oral histories, please let us know. Please RSVP or call Patty Clark (703.820.7328).

Come help us kick off the planning for the 2009 Home and Garden Tour with a wine and cheese reception for anyone interested in showing their home or working on the committee.

  Help Wanted!
For Greeting Cards and Calendars, Books, Exhibits… And More

We are considering creating both general and holiday greeting cards featuring photographs of Fairlington and also re-issuing the Fairlington commemorative wall calendar. We are looking for volunteers with a marketing background to help us analyze the sales potential and develop a plan.

Catherine Fellows book, Fairlington at 50: 1943-1993 – The 60th Anniversary Edition, is out of print and we are looking for volunteers to help organize the re-printing.

The FHS is sponsoring an exhibit on the community to be featured as the first in a new series of neighborhood exhibits at the Arlington Historical Museum. We are looking for volunteers to help prepare and install the contents of the exhibit case.

Interested? We’d love to hear from you! Contact Us.
