Event Calendar

The FHS usually plans two community events each year, one in the spring and another in the fall, on historic preservation and other topics of interest to members.

The FHS Board of Trustees meeting dates are published in the All Fairlington Bulletin and the North Fairlington News. Meetings are held in the North Fairlington Community Center ( 3001 South Abingdon Street) at 6:30 pm. Members and prospective members are always welcomed.

A nationally significant example of community planning and publicly financed housing built for defense workers and their families during World War II. Designed by renowned architects Kenneth Franzheim and Alan B. Mills, Fairlington was the largest project financed by the Defense Homes Corporation and the nation’s largest residential complex at the time.
