Organization and Tax Status
The Fairlington Historical Society was formed in 2000 in order to continue the work done by the Historic Designation Committee that secured national and state historic district status for Fairlington in 1999 and 1998 respectively.
The Society adopted its charter on July 6, 2000 and was incorporated in the Commonwealth of Virginia on July 12, 2000. The Society was granted exemption under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code by the Internal Revenue Service on September 18, 2000, and was registered with the Commonwealth of Virginia under Section 57-49 of the Virginia Solicitation of Contributions Law on June 27, 2001.
