- Honorary members shall be anyone selected by the Board of Trustees for this class of membership
Dues will be as established by the Board of Trustees.
- Board of Trustees
The Fairlington Historical Society membership shall elect a five-member Board of Trustees from among themselves. The Board of Trustees will be nominated and elected by the simple majority vote of charter members attending the election meeting. AFter the election of the first Board of Trustees, one third of the Director positions then filled shall be up for reelection each year until all Trustees are elected for three-year terms.
The function of the Board of Trustees shall be: (1) to set general Society policy in matters not coming before the general membership for consideration and resolution; (2) to appoint an Historican /Archivist (who shall also serve as the Chair of the Historic Preservation Commitee); (3) to appoint all committee chairs; and (4) to create ad hoc committees as necessary. Board members shall be eligible to serve as officers.
- Honorary Board of Governors: the Board of Trustees shall invite prominent members of the local community, Federal State, and/or local officials, representatives of the business, media, historical preservation community, or others at the option of the Board, to serve an members of an Honorary Board of Governors.
- Advisory Committee - Fairlington Condominium Association and Fairlington Citizens Association Board Presidents
With the approval of the Fairlington Condominium Association and the Fairlington Citizens Association Boards, the eight (8) Board Presidents will constitute an Advisory Committee to the Historical Society. The recommendations of the Advisory Committee will not be binding on the Society.
- Officers and Election Process
The Board of Trustees will annually select five officers from among themselves: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Liaison to the Advisory Committee (of Condominium Association and Fairlington Citizens Association Board Presidents).
